2010-09-11 [Mrs Vicious.]: erm... why was I invited here?

2010-09-11 [Lothuriel]: This is nice.

2010-09-11 [Mrs Vicious.]: Does it particualally matter that I havnt actually been Christened into any church?

2010-09-11 [Iruvielle]: No Mrs Vicious.
I've, believe it or not, never been baptized.
Ever.
And yet I'm a hardcore believer.
My bible study group just did a section on physical baptism and spiritual baptism.
Physical baptism is only a symbol, it does NOT make you a christian. It is simply a symbol of the spiritual baptism.
Spiritual baptism is when you sincerely ask the Lord to be your Saviour and you've been washed in the blood(so to speak)...
"Would you be free from the burden of sin? There's power in the blood, power in the blood. Would you o'er evil a victory win? There's wonderful power in the blood!"
:)

2010-09-11 [Mrs Vicious.]: Woo lovely!

2010-09-11 [another brick in the wall]: just meant for a civil discussion, But I'd just wonder then why did Jesus come to John to be physically baptized at all?

2010-09-12 [Iruvielle]: I've been pondering that one, but I'm afraid I'm not quite sure.
You'd have to look it up. :)

Not to change subject, but... lover of quotes here... I just had to share this quote.
"The Will of God will never take you where the Grace of God cannot protect you."
In other words, as long as you follow the Will that God has given you, you will be protected by the Grace of the Lord. <3

He certainly is amazing.

2010-09-12 [Mrs Vicious.]: oh, thats lovely.

2010-09-12 [Iruvielle]: :)

2010-09-12 [another brick in the wall]: Well, in my opion, (and I am not at all edging a debate, anyone can reply if they wish, wont matter if not) Salvation is never symbolic. Salvation is real. Anything that stands for salvation, IS salvation. If Jesus shows that a baptism is the way of salvation, then it IS the way of salvation. And if he thought baptism by water was not the way, then he would have just stuck to 'spiritual baptizing', and not gotten baptized in the river at all. there is no "This symbolizes everything you need in life, but you don't actually need it itself", ya know?

could I ask what the ideas were behind your bible study concluding that you didn't need baptisms? But to V, don't be distraught by this, one should wait to be baptized until they feel the calling to it anyway. When the day arrives, you can then be baptized by the Holy Spirit.
